What if learning digital skills felt like exploring an open, interactive space rather than scrolling through a conventional list of online courses?
We are proud to announce the official launch of the Immersive Platform for Digital Learning and Inclusion (ILE). Created to support public libraries as they grow into active digital community hubs, this browser-based 3D environment provides librarians, cultural operators, educators, and adult learners with a participatory space to build essential digital capabilities.
The platform moves past static course catalogues by translating educational materials into spatial discovery. Learners navigate virtual rooms in first person, interacting directly with stands, video lectures, and practical Open Educational Resources (OERs). The platform runs directly in modern web browsers (such as Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox) on desktop and laptop computers, requiring no downloads, plugins, or installations. Before entering, users can also customize their visual experience, adjusting parameters like contrast, font size, and light or dark themes.
Because bridging the digital divide requires different tools for different community roles, the ILE hosts two distinct environments:
Learners are free to decide how they interact with the space:
Progress across the platform is recognized through milestone badges collected in each learner's Personal Area:
The DigLib Immersive Learning Environment is free, open to anyone aged 18 or older, and ready to welcome its first community of explorers.
